Life

Life just got crazier at the Gordon house. Rob is travelling again. Every year he promises that it the last time. I know he really wants it to be true. Unfortunately, that's not the reality. Sometimes I wonder when life became the way it is for our family. We have great kids and I am very lucky to be married to my best friend. It just makes you wonder why things turned out the way they do.

Cameron said the cutest thing to me tonight. "Mommy, any kid would be lucky to have you for a mommy. I love you." I love that kid too! Even though he has already developed selective listening skills. Just last night he told me that it's a free country and he can do what he wants. Boy, it was hard not to laugh I explained that even in a free country there are rules and Leaders (and Dad and I are his). He also calls Primary kids sacrament meeting, and I adore that too! Cameron is my snuggly little guy. I can't believe my little boy is nearly seven. That just does not seem right at all.

Kelsie is my little worker bee. She is always getting everything done on her own. This is just the way she is and has always been. She gets ready by herself, does her homework by herself, makes her own breakfast. Sometimes I think she is an adult stuck in a cute little body. Rob and I have really been reflecting on all the cute things are kids have said, and we found out we can't remember most of them. One thing I remember about Kelsie is her love for shopping and all things girly. When I was pregnant with Cameron and Kelsie was 2, I was looking at maternity clothes and she boldly yells "Can't we look at the stuff that is my size." She has been caught too many times to count in my make up. When she was little she would look at me and say "I can't help myself, I just love it sooooo much."

Ashley is growing by leaps and bounds. She loves things just right. Sometimes to a fault. In so many ways she is like me, and then not in so many other ways she is not. I think she was eight when we told her that sneezes weren't called "bless yous", it was just to sweet to stop. She wants to be grown up on one hand and not on the other. I love her sensitive little spirit. She always want to do things right. She's my rule follower, and gets very upset when caught. I am so proud of my beautiful young woman.

I love my kids. I hope that I am the mother that they need. Sometimes I wonder if I am giving the right advice or saying the right things. Where is the instruction manual for kids. Well this is getting long and we are not done with homework (yuck) yet.

Love,

M

October Fun

Well the kids have been on Fall Break for the last two weeks. It's been fun to have them home. Last week we went to Moab to visit Mary's parents. We had a great time. One of the days we drove through the La Sal Mountains and we got to see some fall leaves. We also got to meet Megan's fiance Ian. We had a good time. We even caught Hunter's football game. It was wonderful to spend time with family. The weather was beautiful the highs were in the sixties.

Last Saturday when we got home Cameron announced that he had big plans for us on Friday. He wanted to go to the zoo and then to Culver's, which one of our favorite lunch spots. He waited all week and this morning he was ready to go at 6:30. Once he convinced everyone else that it was time to go we left. We had a good time at the zoo, although, it was hot. It was about 95, this is about when you wonder if this heat will ever end.

Sorry I can't post any pictures the drive it broken on the computer. Rob will have to figure that out.

Love you all.

Kelsie's Post below

Well it is kinda weird with a 5th grade teacher in 4th grade like he says that you should know this but he should be teaching it. Summer break went by fast, but it was fun to get two extra days at the wedding. I want to be 12 so bad first you get to baby sit ,secound you get to go to mutual, thirdly you get to boss every around (or that's what my sister gets to do).

Love,

Kelsie :)

Fall

Well we wish we could say that it is cooling off and the season is changing. But it will be hot, hot, hot until about November. There is not much to write about. The kids are all enjoying school. I can't believe that they are already half way through the first quarter. Robert started school two weeks ago. He is doing extremely well. We are very proud of him. Robert and I have been attending the Temple more often. It is a wonderful blessing to have a temple close enough to attend regularly.

Rob recently was called to teach Elders Quorum he is doing a fabulous job.

Last month we went to Logan for Rob's brother Josh's wedding. It was wonderful to see the Gordon side of the family. We also enjoyed a nice visit with Grandpa Ken and Grandma Robin. We even got to see Aunt Darla Kay. It was a fun visit and we enjoyed the cooler weather.

We love all you and miss everyone. We really mean it when we say "Visitors are welcome." We promise nice weather, good food, and great company (okay, we might be stretching the company part, but come anyway.)

Back to School

The kids all started school this week. The summer seemed to fly by this year. I guess we are used to starting school in July.

Ashley is in 7th grade this year. I can't believe it. She just turned twelve and is in Young Women's at church. She recently caught up to me in height (I guess that's really not that shocking, considering how short I am). This year she is attending a new school. Last year at middle school she had a pretty big adjustment. This week has been night and day from last year. She came home excited and really seems to be enjoying school. She an old pro when it comes to switching classes. As I write this she is writing a children's book called "Super Kookie". Maybe one day you can pick it up at the book store. She loves to write.

Kelsie is in 4th Grade this year. She is very excited about school. She quickly got everything organized. With the changes at the school 4th grade is the top of the school, so she is enjoying being the oldest at school.

Cameron is in 1st grade. He has a very nice teacher. He is having fun at school. He is learning to read and is doing really well at it.

Tonight we misplaced the camera, so I will post pictures as soon as it's found.

Phelps Reunion

We got back on Sunday from the Phelps Family Reunion in Grantsville. We had a blast. It was great to see everyone. The weather was beautiful and we had way too much food. The kids all had fun and loved visiting their cousins. I can't believe how much the family grows each year.

We were also able to visit my sister Ann and her family. Ashley and Kelsie did not come home with us. Instead they are spending the week with Grandpa and Grandma in Moab. I talked to them today and they are having a lot a fun. Grandma is teaching them to sew.

We love and miss everyone! We forgot our camera, so no pictures to post.

Camping in Arizona

Who knew camping in Arizona could be so much fun!

After five years we finally convinced Rob to go camping. We all were a little afraid of what creepy crawlies might be in the Arizona wilderness. But we decided to brave it, and boy are we glad we did. We went about ninety minutes north from our house. To an area called Christopher Creek. It was beautiful 70 degree weather. It felt a little chilly compared to the hot weather we are used to. It was amazing what a difference it was being so close to home. It was green all around with ponderosa pines. The elevation was 7700 feet.

Kids do say the cutest things. A couple of weeks ago when we told Cameron we were going camping. He said he did not want to go because he was afraid of the bears. Luckily when we got there he did not read the signs that warned we were in "Bear Country". Even better luck, we did not see any BEARS. The only growls we heard were coming from our tent (Rob's snoring).

Cameron did burn his hand on the tent heater. We were gratefull that it was not too bad. He said he didn't know it was hot, because it wasn't plugged in. :(

The kids all had a great time, and can't wait to go back.

Sunday, May 17, 2009

I haven't posted anything in a while. I guess it feels like not much is happening. The kids are getting excited for summer. School is get out the last week of May. Believe it or not the heat is here, we are already over 100 degrees. Kelsie celebrated her birthday the first week of May, she was excited to hear from so many family members. She had a fun day.

The girls just finished softball last week. Cameron will finish baseball this week he has two games left. All of them have had a lot of fun this season. Games have filled our evenings for the last two months. It's sad to have it finished.

Mother's Day last weekend was nice. I was able to spend the whole weekend at home with Rob and the kids. The kids sang in sacrament meeting. I love that. It's hard to imagine that it was Ashley's last time to sing in Primary.

Not much else to report.

Happy Easter!

We are in Moab, Utah. It rained the last two days here. Normally that would have ruined the weekend. However, since we don't see rain that often in Arizona. It was a nice change. We are visiting Mary's parents. It's been a fun weekend. The kids are all having fun. Mary's sister Rose and her family are here. Minus Cherie, she decided to stay home.

Yahoo!!
Rob is finally done with Las Vegas. We have been hopping between softball and baseball games. All three kids are playing. It's been very crazy and we have had games almost every night. It will be nice to have Rob home to go with us. It has been so much fun to watch them. They are all doing well. Tomorrow is my birthday and Rob's is on Saturday. No big plans, but I am sure it will be fun. It's funny to think that we started dating when I was seventeen, so this birthday means that half my life has been spent with my best friend. I am very lucky to have such a wonderful husband. It is always fun that we are able to celebrate our birthdays together. Somehow it makes it that much more special. I wish I had a cute picture to post when we were dating. But that was way back before digital cameras. When we walked up hill both ways to school in the snow. Hee Hee.

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

We just got back on Sunday from Disneyland. We all had a blast. We spent three day there. The weather was nice just in the low 70's. Kelsie was a very nervous rider. She is not a huge fan of roller coasters. She surprised us though when she annouced that she loved Space Mountain. Cameron was thrilled, he is a huge Star Wars fan. He was choosen at the Jedi Training Camp, and got to fight Darth Vader. Ashley loves roller coaster and she had so much fun. She has decided to start collecting Disney Pins. I will post a few pictures of our trip.

Here's a picture of the journals we made today. The girls all had fun.

Family History

Well it been a crazy morning already. For those that don't know I am the Activity Day Leader in our Ward. So, every other Tuesday, I have 16 eight and nine years at my house. Today we are making journals. I will post a picture later. It has been a blessing to have this calling. Since, I work on Sundays, it has been difficult to feel a part of the ward. This has given me that opportunity, and for that I am grateful.

Thinking about journals always remind me of my ancestors. For what ever reason I have always been drawn to learning more about all mine. I wish I had more journals or stories about them to read and really know who they were. Today I asked my mom to send me some old pictures to share with the girls and I thought it would be fun to post some of them.

Hopefully, I can inspire some of them to love family history. Just in case anyone wants to get involved. It is really easy to start indexing names. I started about a year ago and it's an amazing way to help others find there families.

The picture above is my Great Grandmother Mary Ann. This was taken in 1900.
The picture below is of my Grandfather Jake Henningson.

Oh Henry

We had the opportunity to have a new puppy in our home for a short time. Unfortunately Baxter was not happy with little Henry. Henry went to my good friend Jody's mom and instantly fell in love with her daschund Bailey. There maybe some CHIWEENIE puppies soon.

Also wanted to brag on Cameron for a minute he is now in the 100 club at school. This means that he can count and write to 100. Each kid that masters this skill receive a T-shirt. He has been wearing his all weekend. Great job Cam!

While writing this I realized that we haven't posted any pictures of Baxter. So here he is.

Monday, February 16, 2009

I know already posted today. I guess I am on a blogging frenzy. I figured out how to put music on my blog. Pretty cool. I guess I am pretty smart. Okay, maybe not. I was inspired by soooo many other blogs with music.

More Seaworld pictures!!

This picture is from our trip to Seaworld last summer.
Well it is February, another year is flying by. The kids are all getting ready to play ball. Ashley and Kelsie are playing softball and Cameron is playing baseball this spring. They are all doing very well in school. Rob is still in Las Vegas (YUCK). Hopefully that job will be finished in March. The weather has been a little cooler this last week, we are in the low 70's. Mary still working, most days this makes her crazy!!!!

Not much else to report from the Gordon House. We love and miss everyone.

Tuesday, January 6, 2009

Well it's 2009! The years just keep flying by. It seems that with each new year we are given a time to reflect on where life has taken us. It's hard to believe that we have been in Arizona for nearly five years. I don't think that either Rob or I thought we would be here this long.

Who knows what this year will bring. We are grateful to all the wonderful friends that we have found in Arizona. Maybe they are why we are here.

We love you all.
